HR 2219 Defense Appropriations for 2012 Passed by House

Friday, the House passed HR 2219, Department of Defense Appropriations for FY 2012. The bill contains $530.5 billion in non-emergency, discretionary budget authority for the Department of Defense, an increase of $17.2 billion above the non-emergency spending level for FY 2011 and $8.9 billion below the president’s request. This bill will fund our soldiers in the field and provide for the common defense of our country.

HR 2021 Jobs and Energy Permitting Act of 2011 Approved in the House

On Wednesday, the House approved H.R. 2021, the Jobs and Energy Permitting Act of 2011, by a vote of 253-166. The legislation would eliminate needless permitting delays that have stalled important energy production opportunities off the coast of Alaska.

This biennium we are proposing to spend $34 billion. A 6% increase from last biennium, although we are increasing funding to important areas like Health Care and K-12 Education I would like to highlight a few areas of reform that our budget does all without increasing taxes.
