From the City of Plymouth’s website:
The Minnesota Department of Transportation invites the public to attend a hearing for the Interstate 494 Expansion Project Environmental Assessment/Environmental Assessment Worksheet (EA/EAW). The public hearing will be held on Wed., Jan. 12 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Plymouth City Hall Medicine Lake Room, 3400 Plymouth Blvd., Plymouth. Representatives from the MNDOT will provide information about the project, answer questions and gather public feedback.
Layouts of the proposed improvements will be displayed and copies of the EA/EAW will be available for review during the public hearing, which will be held in an open house format. There will be no formal presentation.
The proposed project includes construction of a new lane on the inside shoulder of northbound and southbound I-494 between I-394 and East Fish Lake Road overpass in Minnetonka, Plymouth and Maple Grove. The purpose of the project is to address deficiencies and corresponding capacity, congestion and traffic operation problems on this segment of I-494. Construction of the proposed project is not currently programmed for funding. This EA/EAW process is intended to support the anticipated future use of federal funding for the proposed project.
The EA/EAW documents the purpose and need of the proposed project along with the anticipated social, economic, and environmental impacts.
Written comments may be mailed, prior to the close of the public comment period on Wed., Jan. 26, 2011, to
