Recently I learned of my appointment to the House Intelligence Committee for the 112th Congress. I thank Speaker-designate Boehner for extending to me the opportunity to serve on the House Intelligence Committee. It was a leading desire of mine to serve on this panel because of the key role it plays in keeping our nation safe

It is amazing to me that the Democrat majority here in Washington can say that they are seriously concerned with our skyrocketing debt and out of control spending, yet reject the people’s common-sense proposal to put a freeze on federal salaries, including Members of Congress. They can’t have it both ways, and it’s just another example of the fiscal recklessness we’ve grown so accustomed to under their leadership.

The forums are designed to foster discussion on the challenges and successes of creating jobs in this economy. Local business leaders and experts from non-partisan foundations will be on hand to speak with local residents about how they are working to right our economy and get Minnesotans back to work.
